Overview

The one-day Furnas Tour, starts in Ponta Delgada and in a circular route, with a duration of 8 hours, we will see the volcanic activity that exists in Furnas and explore a little this town and its surrounding area.
Our first stop is Fabrica Cerâmica Vieira, for one of the products that is part of the Azorean handicrafts, the ceramic pieces.
In this factory and through a guided tour by us, we will show the facilities and explain each of the processes in the preparation of the clay, from the preparation of the clay to the painting of the pieces.
In Vila Franca do Campo, we go to the viewpoint of the chapel Nossa Senhora da Paz, a place that offers us a breathtaking view, to this village, to the sea, but also to the islet of Vila Franca do Campo, where we can have the dimension and shape of this small island.
Around 12:10 pm, we will already be at Lagoa das Furnas, to watch the famous Furnas stew removed, which is made in this area and on volcanic soil, because there is volcanic activity around it, and you can see fumaroles and small mud puddles. bubbling, because of the high temperatures.
We stop for lunch in the center of the village of Furnas and in a typical restaurant in this location, where the stew we watched a few minutes earlier is a suggestion for your lunch.
After lunch, we go to another area in the furnas, rich in volcanic activity, in a short walk through the area, you can see numerous “boilers” with boiling water, several fumaroles, hot spring’s, as well as mineral springs.
As an option, you can choose to visit the Terra Nostra botanical garden or go for an outdoor thermal bath in the puddles of Dona Beija.
Leaving the village of Furnas and heading towards Fabrica de Chá, which is located on the north coast of São Miguel, we will stop at the Pico do Ferro viewpoint, because it offers us a panoramic view of the caldera of this volcano, but also of the village of Furnas and over the lagoon.
In the tea factory, in addition to getting to know the facilities and their plantation, you will get to know the complete process in making tea, from picking the leaves to the origin of each type of tea produced in the factory.
The last stop of our tour, which will be at Miradouro de Santa Iria, a point of great historical and scenic interest, which provides us with a pleasant view of the north coast and beyond.
